A part of Lund University, the Folklife Archives was founded in 1913 by Carl Wilhelm von Sydow. von Sydow is credited for playing an important role in establishing the academic discipline of ethnology in Sweden. To this day, the Folklife Archives work closely with researchers within and outside the university, nationally and internationally. The Folklife Archives initiate, collect, preserve, and make accessible material about everyday life in Sweden.
